A WOMAN from Munaki area under Chief Ndanga in Zaka died after she was allegedly bitten on the buttocks by the dog of a pastor she had visited for prayers.

The incident which also left the woman Agnes Chitendevaas family saddened and in disbelief happened on Saturday last week.

It is reported that Chitendeva who suffered a a?burning paina? after the attack died before she received any treatment.

It is alleged that on the fateful day Chitendeva who was fasting left home going to her pastoras home for prayers and to break the fast.

Upon arrival at the pastoras gate the dog immediately attacked her and no one came to her rescue.

Confirming the incident, Chief Ndanga whose jurisdiction the area falls under said one of the villagers who was the first to arrive at the scene of Chitendevaas attack heard the now deceased screaming but thought it was children who were playing in the nearby maize field.

When she later rushed to the scene after the screaming went on a bit too long she found Chitendeva helplessly lying on the ground and writhing in agony.

Chief Ndanga said before Chitendeva breathed her last she complained of a burning pain on her buttocks.

a?To everyoneas surprise the dog did not appear to be aggressive and currently it is being kept by its owner. The problem is that the body was never taken for post-mortem to ascertain the actual cause of death.

a?We might suspect that the woman died of a dog bite yet it could be a case of a natural death. As of now I am waiting for the womanas family to come forward and tell us what action should be taken against the pastor who is the owner of the dog,a? said Chief Ndanga.
