A SECURITY guard, who was attacked by armed robbers while guarding the house of a pastor, is crying foul after he was sacked without “due notice and terminal benefits.”
Peter Mupande, 53, used to work for Pastor Murisi Mukonoweshuro as a gardener, who also doubled up as a security guard, during the night.
Mupande was attacked by armed robbers in April 2021 at Pastor Mukonoweshuro’s house in Vainona.
He sustained a broken leg.
“I lost my job because my leg broke when I was attacked by some armed robbers,” said Mupande.
“They were after my employer. Pastor Mukonoweshuro paid my medical bills but later dumped me.
“I was working as a security guard during the night and gardener during the day.
“My wife abandoned me, and I was left looking after my four children.”
He added:
“Ndakarwadziwa zvekuti ndakarangarira Pastor musiwavakasangana neni kuCelebration Church vakandipa basa.
“He turned his back on me ini ndakatyoka gumbo ndichichengetedza imba yake.
“He promised to acquire a residential stand for me in Domboshava but nothing positive came out of that.
“I tried to engage the Labour Ministry, but it was all in vain.”
Contacted for comment, Pastor Mukonoweshuro directed H-Metro to the Ministry of Labour whom he said was handling the case.
“Peter took his case to the Ministry of Labour and I am sure they are the ones in a position to answer your questions.
“For now, I cannot comment unless directed by the Ministry of Labour who are handling the matter,” said Pastor Mukonoweshuro.
