The move is set to see the 11-match wonder finally take full charge of the club after a lengthy stint as assistant to other coaches. Pasuwa has deputised Lloyd Mutasa across three Premiership clubs stretching from the now defunct Sporting Lions, Highway and Kiglon.
He also had a brief stint as Moses Chunga’s assistant at Caps United last year.
Pasuwa whose short term arrangement with the Harare giants’ management committee expired at the death of the season is reported to have asked for a meeting with the club executive. His brief had been to oversee the remaining 11 games from August following DeMbare’s turbulent flirtation with Lloyd Mutasa characterised by seesaw relations with club management and a dip in fortunes on the field of play.
A source close to the coach revealed that the two parties had not been able to sit down to discuss his future as the two parties were more focused on winning the league championship and the Mbada Diamonds Cup but added that the management has agreed to meet him to chart the way forward.
The source added that coaching Dynamos is a demanding job adding that Pasuwa needed at least a three- year contract in order for him to build a strong team that can satisfy the team’s restive following.
Club chairman Kenny Mubaiwa, confirmed that their contract with Pasuwa ended when the played their last game on Sunday. He however said the club was happy with the coach’s performance hinting that they planned to offer him the best deal the club could afford.
“Yes we are at an advanced stage of negotiations with the coach and everyone is happy. We have no problem in offering him a three-year contract,” said Mubaiwa.
He however said they were still to iron out some contractual details. The new deal would see Pasuwa assuming the role of head coach with powers to select his backroom staff.
“As management we will give him free reign to choose his technical team as well as groom players with the African safari challenge in mind,” added Mubaiwa.
Pasuwa is negotiating in a position of formidable strength following his team’s classic performance in both the Mbada Diamonds Cup and league which he won on goal difference over FC Platinum.
If given the job, his immediate challenge will be to lead Dynamos to the African title. After bagging the double, Dynamos have opted to participate in the lucrative Caf Champions League.
Pasuwa was ironically part of the Dynamos success story in 1998 when they reached Caf Champions League finals before losing out to a youthful Asec Mimosas of Cote d’ Ivoire 4-2 on aggregate.
Efforts to get a comment from Pasuwa were not successful as his mobile went unanswered.
