Pat Phiri to host body positivity conference

Prominent media personality and influencer Patience Phiri is set to host the Jamila Body Conversations Conference on April 2 at the Bulawayo Club.

The event will precede the second edition of the Miss Plus You pageant, a plus-size beauty contest.

It will help prepare prospective contestants and raise awareness on the beauty of plus-sized women.

Being held under the theme, “Beautiful and Elegant” the conference will roar into life under the watchful eye of “Queen Pat” as Patience Phiri is widely known.

She said she is excited to host the event.

“It’s exciting to host the event because it’s going to be a group of like-minded individuals coming together and assisting each other to be their best selves.

So, as much as I’m hosting it, I’m excited that I’ll learn a lot of things and will leave a better person.

“It’ll be a very interactive platform for everyone to weigh in their thoughts on our bodies irrespective of their size,” Queen Pat said.

“We need more of these conversations to remind each other that we are different and diverse people, but amid all of that, we are beautiful and we need to wake up each and every morning acknowledging that.

“We should celebrate ourselves and the idea of us being equals and being confident in our own bodies.

It will boost our self-esteem,” she said.

The model/businesswoman has for a long time, been a voice of change for women, most notably through her movement, I am empress.
Event organiser Nomagugu Ndlovu called on everyone, especially ladies to attend the event.

“I call on everyone, especially women to attend the event.

Everyone who wants to understand how to love and appreciate themselves is welcome to join us on the 2nd of April,” Ndlovu said.

The second edition of what is to be an annual event, Miss You pageant is slated for November.
