A GROUP of churches have formed the Patriotic Churches in Zimbabwe aimed at empowering communities with a focus on national identity and development.

The churches under the group will encourage members to be proud of their country and will support President Mnangagwa’s efforts to lead and develop the country.

Apostle Benjamin Murata, of the New Life Pentecostal Church, urged Christians to integrate national development into their sermons.

He commended churches for partnering with the Working with the People’s Trust, which is providing support to various affiliates with materials and resources to grow churches and support communities.

Addressing church and traditional leaders during the launch in Zaka, Apostle Murata said they were firmly behind the principles and dictates of both the national Constitution and fundamental Biblical teachings.

“God gave gifts to mankind, divided each continent with bodies of water and mountains for a purpose.

“Each one of us worldwide is expected to benefit from the resources where he lives.

“Zimbabwe is our mother land in Africa where we are supposed to live and be proud.

“President Mnangagwa’s mantra that ‘Nyika inovakwa nevene vayo, igonamatirwa nevene vayo, igotongwa nevene vayo’ is divine and meant to encourage every community to build the nation.

“Religious principles and the Kiswahili spirit of familyhood and cooperation are entrenched in the DNA of the Patriotic Church.

“We are geared to advocate for peace, love, unity, development and strategic mobilisation of all churches in Zimbabwe,” said Apostle Murata.
