Patsime Trust has come up with a play to celebrate International Women’s Day that was marked globally on Sunday.
The play “Shades of a Woman” is set to première on March 28 at GIZ offices in Belvedere.
In an interview with the Herald Entertainment, Patsime Trust producer Jason Mphepo said it has become the norm in their organisation that they celebrate this day.
“We celebrate International Women’s Day every year and we always strive to find innovative ways of doing it,” he said.
“This year’s celebrations will be running under the theme ‘Making it happen’. “Shades of a Woman’ focuses on four different women who are at different stages in their lives, each one faces a peculiar challenge in their struggle to be successful.
“The first one is a female chief executive officer who is very successful and at the height of her career but she battles a rocky marriage.
“Her husband cheats on her and she ends up HIV positive.
“The second is a community nurse who always finds time to assist the community while the third one is a college student who gets raped by her lecturer but she finds courage to fight all laws and corruption to get her degree and the last one is a high school student who heads her family, her parents are late and she has to fend for her siblings but manages to go through high school,” he said.
He added that they are also going to have open discussions with the audience on issues that affect women who are in different situations after their play.
“We are also going to have some discussions on the empowerment of women after the presentation of our play,” he said.
The play will feature renowned actor Nash Mphepo, actress Nyasha Sithole, Miriam Makundidze and Misheck Chirume.
