RENOWNED environmental artist Pax Gomo is set to launch his latest album titled “Together We Can” on Thursday, ahead of the annual World Wetlands Day set for Sunday.
The eight-track album, which focuses on wetlands, wildlife conservation and environmental awareness is meant to educate and inspire action against environmental degradation.
The album launch comes as the world prepares to commemorate World Wetlands Day, which is running under the theme “Protecting Wetlands for Our Common Future”, and highlights the urgent need for action to preserve wetlands for the benefit of current and future generations.
This year’s World Wetlands Day marks the 28th anniversary of the event, which has been observed annually since 1997.
In an interview with H-Metro, Pax Gomo said:
“This album is more than music, it is a call to action because wetlands play a pivotal role.
“The album features a collaboration with eight musicians across Africa in one of the tracks brought together by the PETFOA (Pax Gomo Environment Tourism and Friends of Africa) founded by me to promote environmental advocacy through art.
“I invited these talented musicians to join me on this album because we share a vision to use our art to preach the gospel of environmental awareness,” he said.
World Wetlands Day is a significant event because it educates people about the vital role wetlands play for our planet and humanity and the album is part of this mission.
Pax Gomo said the album launch will serve as the first step in a broader campaign.
“We plan to embark on a massive roadshow nationwide if resources permit, we are also engaging schools to involve students.
“It’s important to catch them young and instill the importance of protecting our natural habitats.
“We are honoured to have the Secretary-General of the Ramsar Convention joining us this year, which is a testament to the importance of our mission and, as an artist, I took this opportunity to give my all on this album,” he said.
