The Passengers Association of Zimbabwe (PAZ) has condemned the state of the country’s bus terminuses, accusing local authorities of neglect and mismanagement.

PAZ national coordinator Mr Tafadzwa Goliati criticised the encroachment of vendors and exploitation by “space barons” who illegally collect rentals.

Mr Goliati also highlighted the lack of proper shelters and ablution facilities, which pose significant health risks to passengers.

“This is unacceptable. Passengers endure harsh conditions daily while authorities collect rank vouchers without upgrading the terminals,” he said.

PAZ has called for immediate renovations, regulation of vendor activities and transparency in the use of public funds.

They also warned that private players may take over if local authorities fail to modernise and improve facilities.
