A HARARE woman failed in her bid to obtain a peace order against her ex-husband for alleged physical and verbal abuse.

Violet Zulu approached the Civil Court seeking a peace order against her ex-husband, Brighton Gumbe.

Magistrate Rutendo Machingura dismissed the peace order for failing to present convincing evidence to the court.

“Whenever we meet, he always assaults me.

“On August 19, he came to my place and assaulted me, shouting that I am a prostitute.

“During our marriage, he married my best friend and l then told him that l cannot stay in a polygamous marriage.

“This is where the grudge started and I am now living in fear walking around,” said Zulu.

In his defence, Gumbe said:

“I used to stay with her and she left with all the property.

“After we had separated for five months we then reconciled for about two weeks.

“She took all the property that l bought in her absence.

“When I went to her place of residence to claim my property, she started attacking me with stones.”
