Peace Security transforms electronics department

Business Reporter

One of Zimbabwe’s largest security firms, Peace Security, is undergoing a major transformation by expanding its electronics department into a fully-fledged division.

The move is part of a three-year strategic plan to enhance the company’s technological offerings and solidify its position in the security and communications market.

Founded in January 2002, Peace Security has built a strong reputation in the security sector.

It now boasts more than 3 000 guards and over 20 branches across Zimbabwe.

The company is registered with the Ministry of Home Affairs and is a member of the Security Association of Zimbabwe (SAZ).

It is also ISO 9001:2015 certified by the Standards Association of Zimbabwe, reflecting its commitment to quality management systems.

The electronics department, which has been operational since 2012, has traditionally offered a range of security solutions, including alarms, CCTV, access control, boom gates, gate automation, guard monitoring units and time and attendance systems.

However, the transformation into an independent division signals a new phase of growth and innovation for the department.

As part of this transformation, Peace Security Electronics has introduced several new products that cater for both individual and corporate clients.

Among the latest offerings are workers’ badges, wireless alarm systems and Starlink satellite internet services.

“The transition to a full-fledged division allows us to enhance our focus on technology-driven security solutions,” said Mr Bernard Tongogara, Peace Security Electronics Division manager.

“Electronics should stand alone to better serve our clients and keep up with technological advancements.”

The worker’s badge is designed for employees operating in remote or high-risk areas.

It functions as a tracking device, allowing employers to monitor staff movement in real time. Additionally, it doubles as a panic button, enabling workers to send distress signals in emergencies.

“This device is a game-changer for those working in isolated locations,” Mr Tongogara explained. “It ensures that workers can immediately alert someone if they are in danger.”

The wireless alarm system, another new product, is particularly suited for tenants in rental properties or commercial spaces. Its portability and ease of installation allow users to relocate with the system when moving premises, making it a flexible and affordable security solution.

According to Mr Tongogara, “This alarm is ideal for people who move frequently. It is affordable, easy to install and provides security wherever you go.”

A key highlight of Peace Security Electronics’ expansion is its partnership with Aura to provide Starlink satellite internet kits in Zimbabwe.

Starlink, operated by Elon Musk’s SpaceX, offers high-speed internet connectivity, particularly in areas where traditional broadband services are unreliable or unavailable.

Peace Security Electronics currently offers three types of Starlink kits, the enterprise kit, designed for large-scale operations and businesses.

The high performance kit caters for users requiring superior connectivity and reliability.

“Starlink is a game-changer for Zimbabwe’s connectivity,” said Mr Tongogara. “With our partnership, we are bringing high-speed internet to businesses and individuals who previously had limited options.”

This move aligns with the country’s growing demand for stable internet access, particularly in remote and rural regions where infrastructure development lags behind urban centres.

By integrating Starlink into its product portfolio, Peace Security Electronics is not only broadening its scope but also addressing a critical need in the country’s digital landscape.

The transformation of Peace Security Electronics into a division underscores the company’s long-term vision of blending security with cutting-edge technology.

As digital transformation accelerates across Africa, security firms are increasingly incorporating tech-driven solutions to enhance their service delivery.

Mr Tongogara added, “Our goal is to become a leader in security and technology. Through integrating advanced security systems with telecommunications solutions like Starlink, we are redefining the role of security firms in Zimbabwe.”

Peace Security’s expansion into telecommunications and electronic security solutions is likely to set a precedent for similar firms looking to diversify.

The combination of traditional security services with modern technological advancements positions the company as a forward-thinking industry leader.

With this strategic shift, Peace Security Electronics is poised to play a crucial role in the evolving local security and digital landscape. The company’s ability to innovate and adapt to market demands will determine its success as it navigates this new era of expansion.
