THE Nedbank Tour de Great Dyke rolled into its second lap this morning, with cyclists now pushing from Kwekwe to Gweru as the endurance challenge gathers momentum across the Midlands.
Yesterday, 90 cyclists kicked off from Selous and made spirited stopovers in Chegutu and Kadoma, where they were met with cheers, waves and excited schoolchildren lining the roads.

Tour founder Munyaradzi Hwengwere said the opening lap had been lively, though not without setbacks.
“We had a successful first lap. We left Selous with 90 cyclists but six picked up injuries. However, we are looking forward to have a good second lap and we expect to be joined by more cyclists as we progress,” said Hwengwere.
The Tour, which promotes awareness and development of the Great Dyke mineral corridor, is expected to draw more riders, supporters and communities as it heads further south.
The convoy continues to Gweru before proceeding to Shurugwi and Zvishavane in the coming legs.
