Pelandaba brick attack suspect (26) arrested, dragged to court

A 26-year-old Bulawayo man has appeared in court for allegedly hitting a complainant on the head with a brick following a misunderstanding after he allegedly attempted to search the complainant’s pockets.
Mdlongwa Victor of Old Lobengula appeared before the Western Commonage Magistrates’ Court facing a charge of assault.

He was remanded in custody to June 16 pending a medical report.
Prosecutor, Mr Tafara Dzimbanhete told the court that the accused person and the complainant are not related.

He said that on June 6, 2026, at around 12 PM, in Pelandaba near Induba Primary School, the accused person and Godknows Tshuma (40) had a misunderstanding after the accused person allegedly tried to search Tshuma’s pockets.

The court heard that Tshuma attempted to run away from the accused person, who then picked up a brick and struck him once on the head.

Tshuma sustained a head injury and was referred to hospital for medical attention. A police report was made, leading to the arrest of the accused person, said Mr Dzimbanhete.
