Pele’s daughter pays tribute to her father

Pele’s daughter has shared an emotional tribute to the football icon following his death aged 82. Kely Nascimento has said that “everything we are” is thanks to the three-times World Cup winner, who is widely regarded as one of the greatest footballers of all-time.

Pele died on Thursday evening following a battle with colon cancer. He had been unwell for several weeks and remained hospitalised for the final month of his life.

Tributes have poured in around the world but none more touching than from his daughter. Nascimento had been updating the world on Pele’s progress in hospital via her social media channels.

The 55-year-old had been one of many family members who remained by Pele’s side during his final few days. A picture of the family holding the Brazil legend’s hand has now been shared by Nascimento on Instagram.
