The Chilean is under pressure to deliver the silverware demanded by his ambitious paymasters after succeeding Roberto Mancini.
And he has vowed to do it by getting his teams playing the kind of football which will have City fans on the edge of their seats.
The former Malaga coach (59) said: “My first message is to tell all the fans of Manchester City that they will enjoy the season. They will enjoy the way we play, it will be an attractive and offensive style of play. I am sure all of us together will reach the targets Manchester City deserve.
“We need to add to what Roberto has done over the years but I hope we will start another way of playing football.
“I like attractive football, attacking football. I’d like all the people who come to see a wonderful show, maybe show is not the right word.
“But they will enjoy the way we play.”
With the exception of City’s title-winning season, goals were often hard to come by during Mancini’s 3½-year spell in charge.
But his successor wants City to become the entertainers and has promised a season to remember in the blue half of Manchester.
Pellegrini has attacking options envied around Europe in his star- studded squad — and he intends to maximise them.
He added: “We are not going to be a team that scores a goal then goes back waiting for a counter-attack.
“We will try to always play in the opponent’s half of the pitch and play attractive football.
“I have one month before I start, I have a lot to do to start the new season, to work with the players and see how far we can advance. I am sure we are going to have a very good season.”
Until a few months ago, Pellegrini was relatively unknown to English football fans — although he did manage La Liga giants Real Madrid for a season.
Then came his exploits with Malaga, where he led them into the Champions League and then to within minutes of the semi-finals.
Prior to that, he had built up a wealth of managerial experience in four different countries.
And now Pellegrini insists he will have no problems getting to know the ins and outs of English football at the top table.
He said: “I can tell fans here that I work very hard, I am very persistent.
“I always get the best out of players that work with me.
“Together, with my way of working, the wonderful players and all the fans, I think we can do a great job for the City supporters. That’s what I can tell them. I’m 100 per cent sure I will not have any problems being in the Premier League.
“I’ve worked in four different countries in my career — Chile, Argentina, Ecuador and Spain. I’ve been in Spain for nine years.
“I know a lot about the Premier League. I’ve played against Manchester United twice, against Arsenal. I always see a match every weekend. I won’t have any problems.”
Prior to becoming a manager, Pellegrini combined playing football with work for a construction firm — and he is still nicknamed ‘The Engineer’ today.
Those skills could come in useful in the Premier League as 2011-12 winners City are looking for him to build the club up from the bottom — as well as taking the first team to new heights. — The Sun.
