HARARE-BASED pencil artist, Willard Magiga, says he is targeting the international market.
The 21-year-old, whose art mostly focuses on celebrities, has been hustling since his parents died when he was just 10.
Willard has produced some fine drawings for Jah Prayzah, Killer T, Holy Ten, Tinashe Mutarisi, among others.
“I came from Masvingo and my journey started when I started my own brand, Trinkoh Arts, following the death of my parents who passed on when I was 10.
“Since then my journey was never been easy.
“My academic journey was cut short in Form 4, in 2020, and I am now staying alone, surviving on art and printing T-shirts.
“I am pursuing my dreams through pencil art since this is my talent.”
His dream is to be recognised internationally.
“My wish is to make history for the coming generations and to inspire every artist, whose art is based on pencil drawing, not to quit.
“One day, I want to represent Zimbabwe in all arts competitions that will be done in Africa and Europe.
“This industry still lacks sponsorship, which is hindering my dreams from coming true, since I am using poor material due to the situation I have.
“If I get sponsorship I will definitely have my dream come true.”
Willard has done a number of portraits for Zimbabwean celebrities.
“I did a number of portraits for some Zimbabwean celebrities including Jah Prayzah, Killer T, Holy Ten, Keen Mushapaidze, Jatiwero Matemai, Tariro Gezi, Prophet Advocate Joshua PMIC, Tinashe Mutarisi, Boss Matande, Fally Ipupa Jnr.
“My clients reach out to me through my social media platforms and I have some portraits for Boss Scott Kupa, Mike Chimombe, Boss Lashaan and Mudiwa Hood ready to be delivered if I get the chance.”
