THE Gutu man, who became destitute after failing to secure a job in Harare, has finally returned to his rural home.

H-Metro published the story of Munashe Hamandishe appealing for help to return to Gutu.

It followed several weeks in which he fed himself with food picked from dust bins and sleeping in the Avenues’ streets.

Hamandishe had come to Harare looking for greener pastures but found that the grass was not as green as he had hoped.

He was helped by a Good Samaritan, one Kaylin, who fed him and availed herself as the contact person for those who wanted to assist him to reunite him with his family.

She said:

“I would like to thank all the people who came through to help Hamandishe.

“Thank you, H-Metro, for taking Hamandishe’s case seriously, as he finally got the help he needed.

“With the help of my church elders, I managed to assist him board a bus back to his rural home.”

She urged everyone to be kind and compassionate towards those who are in need, saying it was through collective efforts that people can make a difference in the lives of others.
