Perfect weekend for Platinum

FC Platinum have maintained their five-point lead after their nearest rivals Chicken Inn dropped points when they lost 1-0 to Tenax yesterday.

Panashe Mutasa scored the solitary goal.

An 88th minute strike by Lawrence Mhlanga helped the champions edge Bulawayo Chiefs 1-0 at Mandava on Saturday.

Mhlanga broke the deadlock by pouncing on a rebound after Walter Musona’s freekick was spilled back into play.

The victory gave FC Platinum 43 points, five ahead of second-placed Chicken Inn.

In Rusape, Cranborne Bullets stunned visiting Dynamos by 1-0, thanks to a second-half strike from Kingsley Mureremba.

The Glamour Boys have now gone three successive games without a win, losing two along the way.

They remain in third place but fell eight points behind the leaders.

Benjani Mwaruwari’s visit to the capital didn’t go as planned after Ngezi Platinum Stars lost 3-0 to Herentals.

The Students got goals from Brighton and Blessing Majarira in the first half and a late strike from Davison Marowa.

Bulawayo City beat WhaWha 3-1 at Luveve.
