‘Perm sec Mupingo an excellent team leader’

Sunday Mail Reporter
Local Government, Public Works and National Housing acting Permanent Secretary Ms Cecilia Jones has described the ministry’s late secretary, Mr Killian Mupingo, as an excellent team leader whose rich legacy will be difficult to emulate.
Ms Jones was speaking at a funeral service conducted by Zimbabwe Defence Forces Chaplain-General, Colonel Joseph Nyakudya, in Harare yesterday.

Cabinet ministers Patrick Chinamasa (Finance) and Kembo Mohadi (Home Affairs), permanent secretaries and other senior Government officials were among the mourners who attended the service at Mr Mupingo’s Milton Park residence.

Ms Jones said her boss was an extraordinary leader who interacted well with individuals of different social standing.
“As an individual who started from the bottom structures of the ministry before rising through the ranks, there was never a trick in the book which you could execute to dupe him.

“He had gone through all those processes before,” she said.
Mr Mupingo succumbed to cancer last Thursday in Rusape.

Burial is scheduled to take place at his farm in Nyazura today.
He is survived by wife Mavis, son Tafadzwa Killian and daughter Barbra Tendai.
