FORMER Coventry City striker Peter Ndlovu is over the moon after his Mamelodi Sundowns won the South African Absa Premier Soccer League title at Loftus Stadium in Pretoria on Tuesday evening.Ndlovu is the team manager.
Sundowns beat Kaitano Tembo’s SuperSport United 3-0 to win the championship.
The former Warriors captain told Chronicle Sport: “Today is a beautiful day, everybody is happy and these are the results of hard work from the technical staff, players and our supporters who came in numbers today to make this victory possible as they were the team’s 12th man.
“We deserved to be crowned as we are a quality side and we maintained our performance throughout the season even though there were some rough patches,” said Ndlovu.
Ndlovu known as Nsukuzonke by many in the football fraternity has achieved a lot in football. He joined Sundowns when he returned from the UK after spending more than a decade in England.
The former Highlanders striker landed the Brazilians’ manager job at the beginning of the season.
Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane praised everybody in the technical department including the Bulawayo Bullet.
“It is always good to work alongside great and experienced people in the game including Peter Ndlovu who played in the biggest league in the world,” said Mosimane.
Zimbabwean players who are part of Sundowns are Khama Billiat, Cuthbert Malajila and veteran midfielder Esrom Nyandoro.
