HARARE-BASED philanthropist Dr Justice Mhishi yesterday donated 13 wheelchairs to Kudavana Children’s Home in Zimunya, Mutare, to improve mobility and promote dignity among people with disabilities.
He also pledged to donate a peanut butter-making machine to support the institution’s operations.
Speaking at the handover ceremony, Minister of State for Manicaland Provincial Affairs and Devolution Advocate Misheck Mugadza, represented by deputy director Mr Pasttence Tarondwa, commended Dr Mhishi for supporting vulnerable communities.

Minister Mugadza said the wheelchairs would improve mobility and ease the burden on caregivers attending to people with disabilities.
He urged the business community and other well-wishers to emulate Mhishi by supporting disadvantaged groups.
“We want to thank DrMhishi for remembering the needy. These donations will improve mobility for people living with disabilities and help caregivers at this children’s home to carry out their duties more easily,” he said.
Dr Mhishi said the donation complemented Government efforts to ensure no one was left behind.
“These donations are about restoring dignity, promoting independence and showing that no one has been forgotten,” he said, adding that disability should not deny anyone equal opportunities.

Kudavana Children’s Home executive director, Mr William Pepukai thanked Dr Mhishi and other well-wishers for supporting the institution’s work.
He also acknowledged First Lady Auxillia Mnangagwa’s Angel of Hope Foundation for assisting the home during difficult times.
Mr Pepukai expressed hope that Mhishi would continue supporting vulnerable children and young people.
