A PILOT died in a crash in Harare yesterday while undergoing a practice session ahead of an air rally for the Mashonaland Flying Club slated for this weekend.
It is understood that the practice session was led by a renowned pilot from Cape Town at Charles Prince Airport.
A source said they were “virtually at the end of their display” when the tragic accident occurred.
A top official at the Civil Aviation Authority of Zimbabwe confirmed the mishap last night but said investigations to establish the cause of the crash were underway.
“There were four planes involved in the practice for an air rally which starts this weekend. There was one fatality recorded.
“Full details of the occurrence will only be availed when investigations are complete. Our investigating team is still working flat out on the issue,” said the official.
