SUNGURA musician, Tatenda “Spanner Boy” Pinjisi, has bounced back from a musical hiatus to pursue preaching in the streets.
The Holy Super Sounds front man says he doesn’t regret his move to pursue his calling.
Pinjsi, who last held shows before the Covid-19 induced lockdown, has announced his return but as a different singer with his seven-track album titled Vadyi Venhaka.
He is now a minister of the word focusing on gospel preaching.
“I am coming back as a musician but not the same as I was before. I now have a title as a pastor and it simply means I am just a pastor who teaches gospel through singing.
“I am preaching Jesus Christ and I was shifted by the Holy Spirit, where I was being taught as a born-again.
“It was a test and only a few can understand.
“I was preaching even in the streets and as it was kind of a test by the Holy Spirit.
“I would also preach in different churches, so, I am just an evangelist of the word of God,” he said.
Pinjisi said the album will be ready by June 10.
“The album is called Vadyi Venhaka and it will be understood by those who are going to inherit the Kingdom of God.
“The album is carrying a message for the believers of the word of God.
“These are the people who believe in God and who will inherit the Kingdom of Heaven.
“It will also have some videos. Some of the songs include, Zimbabwe, Holy 10, we are not talking the Holy 10 you know, Chikuranzira, Maune, Tichafara, Ishe Anouya and Mbereko.”
The Saina hitmaker said, he still sings sungura but with a gospel fusion.
“I am still singing sungura gospel music, I am not changing, my fans love me with the way I used to sing.
“I don’t want to disappoint them but they should enjoy my music. I am only adding a gospel fusion.”
He will be working with his band despite others relocating outside the country.
“I am working with Lyton Ngolomi who is producing. We have the team, after we took a break, we didn’t disband it.
“We are like a family although just a few went outside the country. I learnt a lot when I went on a pause.
“I was like on a bench not in the field.
“God helped me to see what was happening in the field. My message is directed to gospel singers that they should sing with revelations, not just singing verses from the bible.
“They should know the meaning of the verses. Let’s sing after being helped by the Holy Spirit.”
