“It is not only a big loss to the artistes, but also recording companies such as Diamond Studios, my own stable. The record companies are virtually earning nothing as a result of piracy.
“Due to technological advancements anyone can even send a song through Whatsapp to a relative or friend in the United Kingdom. So it’s something that is now difficult to curb or even control,” he said.
Jah Prayzah is set to release at least six videos from the latest 10-track album in July. The videos will feature songs such as “Tsviriyo”, “Vana Muchimana”, “Mwanasikana” among others.
“We are working on the videos and it is my hope that by July they will be complete,” he said.
Jah Prayzah is scheduled to leave Harare for UK on May 1 where he is expected to launch his new album. He is also expected to hold shows between May 3 and 5.
“The UK fans should expect fireworks and we will not let them down. The launch of our new album will be held on the first gig,” he said.
Tonight, Jah Prayzah will be at Plaza de Castilla in Greencroft before travelling to Mutoko tomorrow.
The following day Jah Prayzah and Suluman Chimbetu will hold a family show at Mushandirapamwe Hotel at Machipisa Shopping Centre. On his latest album, Jah Prayzah also features Oliver Mtukudzi and Progress Chipfumo.
This is Jah Prayzah’s fourth album after the release of “Rudo Nerunyararo”, “Sungano Yerudo” and “Ngwarira Kuparara” recorded at Diamond Studios.
He has over 90 singles, which have reached out to fans through piracy. His third album, “Ngwarira Kuparara”, catapulted him to stardom and won him awards.
“Chirangano Cherudo” was voted the most popular song while the party anthem “Gochi Gochi” came second on Radio Zimbabwe’s Top 50 2012 competition.
His video for the song “Maria” was voted the best on ZBC TV’s Shut Down chart show. “Tsviriyo”, the song that has been a hit at shows, is about joy, happiness and love just like the songs “Gochi Gochi”, “Sori Mama” and “Sungano”.
