Pirates remember Meyiwa

Orlando Pirates yesterday paid tribute to their late goalkeeper and captain Senzo Meyiwa, who was murdered a year ago to the day. The club marked the anniversary of the Umlazi-born player’s passing by popularising the hashtag #JusticeForSenzo on social media.

“One year on from the fatal evening on which Orlando Pirates and Bafana Bafana goalkeeper Senzo Meyiwa was murdered and there is still no word as to who was responsible for this senseless and cowardly act,” Pirates said on their website.

The Caf Confederation Cup finalists for the first time recollected Meyiwa’s last moments with his teammates following his last match for the club.

Pirates made an appeal to South Africans to assist the authorities with information regarding the culprits, who are still at large.

Meanwhile, Ajax Cape Town paid tribute to their defender Cecil Lolo who tragically lost his life over the weekend when his vehicle collided with another in Khayelitsha.

The 27-year-old was already one of the senior players in the team, having joined the first team in 2010. — supersport.com
