DEFENDING Castle Lager Premier Soccer League champions Scottland have found themselves in hot soup after fielding an ineligible player in their Chibuku Super Cup match against FC Platinum at Rufaro Stadium on August 14.
This is after a Premier Soccer League club on Wednesday wrote a letter requesting both football bodies to attend to the allegations as a matter of urgency.
They are alleged to have fielded Witbeen Stoffel who was ineligible.
In a press release on Thursday afternoon, the Premier Soccer League charged Scottland with contravening Article 8.4 as read together with Article 4.1 of the Chibuku Super Cup Rules and Regulations.
“Scottland FC has been requested to file its written plea, submissions or defence outline to the PSL by Friday 2 October 2026,” said the PSL in their letter to the club.
The PSL have referred another case related to the player to Zifa for determination after he used in the Zifa Munumutapa Cup.
On Wednesday Bulawayo Chiefs wrote to Zifa and the Premier Soccer League requesting urgent determination on the matter before their Munhumutapa Challenge Cup quarter-final against Scottland.
“Bulawayo Chiefs Football Club writes to formally place on record its concern regarding the unresolved player registration and eligibility matter involving Scottland FC, arising from that an ineligible players was fielded by Scottland in their previous Zifa Munhumutapa Challenge Cup fixture. We are aware of correspondence dated 26 September from a football stakeholder/supporter which raises concerns regarding Scottland’s player registration and ineligibility,” wrote Chiefs’ chief executive Thulani ‘Javas’ Sibanda.
The Bulawayo club had asked Zifa to urgently attend to the match noting that they were going to fulfill the match under protest if the matter was not attended to on time.
