Pirelli to introduce new tyres

In the wake of the Silverstone fiasco, Pirelli are set to introduce tyres with belts made of kevlar instead of steel for the 2013 German Grand Prix.
The change was originally scheduled for earlier in the 2013 F1 season but was blocked by teams. Pirelli plans to use modified 2012 tyres, which also have kevlar belts, from the Hungarian Grand Prix on 28 July. The 2013 British Grand Prix at Silverstone saw several blow-outs, including the left rear tyres of Lewis Hamilton, Felipe Massa, Jean-Eric Vergne and Sergio Perez.

The dangerous incidents prompted calls for immediate action, and the ruling body FIA gave the green light for in-season tyre testing and using an upcoming young drivers test for tyre testing with 2013 cars and drivers as well. — Sport24.
