JOHANNESBURG. – Is Pitso Mosimane set to get R2 million a month at Saudi Second Division side Al-Ahli Saudi?
The Saudi Arabia club announced Mosimane as their new coach on Sunday with the former Bafana Bafana tactician becoming the sixteenth coaching change the club have made in the last five years.
They were relegated from the top-flight last season and remain one of seven clubs to have won the Saudi Pro League and the Arab Champions League.
Mosimane takes over from caretaker coach Yousef Anbar.
“Al-Ahli is a good club, but the only issue is that they are in the second division, but they pay really well so with regards to money he is going to be sorted,” Egyptian agent Amr Hosni told KickOff.
Hosni is familiar with the Middle East market where he does most of his work.
“The advantage is that the Second Division in Saudi Arabia is not strong compared to the First Division which is extremely tough.
“I expect that he is paid around the same money that he was earning here at Al Ahly where he was one of the best-paid coaches in the country.
“Pitso’s decision to go to a Saudi Arabia Second Division club shouldn’t be viewed as a step back because that is a big club that pays well.
“I expect that he will win promotion to the first division again because that is what he has been employed to do,” said Hosni.
Mosimane guided Al Ahly until June this year and was believed to have been earning in the region of R2 million.
“Some fans of Al Ahly are surprised that he has gone to a Second Division club in Saudi Arabia.
“You must remember that Mosimane remains very popular with some sections of the Al Ahly fan base who are still angry with the Al Ahly board for the decision that they made in parting ways with the coach.
“Those fans still wish that he could come back to the club,” says Hosni. – KickOff
