VICTORIA Falls has once again worked its magic. This time it cast its spell on South African music icon PJ Powers, affectionately known as Thandeka. The legendary hitmaker was left star-struck not by a red carpet but by the raw beauty and soul of Zimbabwe’s top tourist paradise.
PJ Powers flew into the resort town earlier this month to headline the closing night of the Victoria Falls Food and Wine Festival. From the moment she arrived at Victoria Falls Airport, she was swept into a world of natural wonder, unmatched hospitality and vibrant culture.

“Victoria Falls is the real star. It is stunning, wild and utterly enchanting,” she said. She posed for photos with fans, bonded with new friends like White Mavumba and was guarded by Bulawayo’s finest bouncers, Boyke and Prospero. She jokingly described them as “serious hunks who make me feel positively tiny.”
The Food and Wine Festival, hosted at the picturesque Baobab School grounds, featured over 30 black-owned wine brands from across Southern Africa. With soulful music, gourmet food and sparkling wine flowing freely, PJ’s electrifying performance was the cherry on top.
She enjoyed her stay at the Victoria Falls Safari Club where she experienced world-class comfort and service. “The attention to detail was amazing. Every moment felt special,” she said.

One of her most treasured moments was a sunset cruise on the mighty Zambezi River, hosted by Bush Cuisine. “It was perfect. I’ve cruised before but the peace and wildness of this river is unforgettable,” she said.
Her entire trip was made smoother by Cape Saints Safaris, who handled her transport with precision. “Lucky Msimang and his team were phenomenal. Professional, punctual and warm. They added so much to my visit,” said PJ.
The festival also introduced a unique culinary surprise with a gin and trout pairing by Lesotho’s Sotho community.
Their craft gin, laced with mountain herbs, paired with delicately smoked trout, had tongues wagging and taste buds dancing.
Festival fan Blessing Munyenyiwa said watching PJ Powers perform live in Victoria Falls was nothing short of a dream. “This was my eleventh time seeing her but the first time in my hometown. She truly loves Zimbabwe and we love her right back,” he said.
Victoria Falls remains the beating heart of Zimbabwean tourism. It is more than a destination. It is a story, a rhythm and a soul-stirring adventure that keeps calling people back.
