THE Pumula North Hall was abuzz with energy on Saturday as the P•L•A Fest (Summer Festival) took centre stage, drawing music lovers from across the suburb and surrounding communities.
More than just a celebration of rising musical talent, the event evolved into a strong community movement against drug and substance abuse, a message that resonated throughout the day.
Despite power cuts that disrupted proceedings, organisers managed to revive the show, bringing it back with even more excitement and engagement.
Organised by Neezy II, Msheli Wentombi and Teekay G, the festival showcased an impressive line-up of artistes including Msiz’kay, Neezy II, Msheli Wentombi, Zowie Nee, TCK, Toksiq Balaclava, Ndustoz, Ntix the Vocalist, Molli488, Mdlost 12, Afro Dynasty Dance Academy, Proff the Maze, Mandie Mae and many others.
The artistes delivered electrifying performances that had the crowd singing, cheering and dancing, all while driving home the message of building a drug-free generation.
“We’re thrilled to have hosted such an incredible event. Our objective was to promote local artistes and encourage a drug-free community, and we believe we achieved that,” said Neezy II.
He added that the festival received overwhelming support from stakeholders.
“A huge shout-out to the artistes, partners and attendees who made this event a success. We also appreciate the amazing work done behind the scenes by Big Wayne, Rayz, Peter Jackson, Craig, Kimberly, Nancy, Nonhlanhla and others,” he said.
Neezy II said the organisers are already preparing for an even bigger edition next year.
“We’re already counting down to next year, expect bigger and better, as we continue to bring fun and empowerment to communities across Zimbabwe.
“Our mission remains the same: to promote local artistes by giving them a platform and to push for a drug-free community while raising awareness about the dangers of substance abuse,” he said. – Follow on X: @mthabisi_mthire
