Gwanda-based arts organisation Planet Kadder Academy continues to fulfill its objective of introducing youngsters to the creative sector at a tender age, recently celebrating Culture Month with young children.
The event, held at Genesis Infant School in partnership with the institution and the Ministry of Sport, Recreation, Arts, and Culture, showcased various cultural activities.
Da Khoisan Clothing and Accessories provided traditional decor and face art for the learners, while Gwanda Magazine served as the media partner. Children aged between two and eight participated in indigenous games, modelling, stick fighting, and singing Imbube music, among other activities. They also demonstrated traditional practices such as ukugiga and brewing traditional iqhaga.
Planet Kadder Academy director Kadder expressed joy at seeing the children dressed in cultural attire inspired by various Zimbabwean and African traditions.

“The event was a resounding success, and the Indigenous games played included ‘iqanda elibolileyo’ and ‘woza ngen’ungene’. These activities promote a culture of shared identity, tolerance, and unity. This activity is part of the Dlala Mtwana Festival of Games, which the academy is working on.
“We would like to thank those who supported us. We are also grateful to the school for their financial assistance,” said Kadder. – @mthabisi_mthire
