Plaxedes to give lovers a rare treat

Saturday.
Wenyika said she would be giving lovers a rare treat.
“It will be a Valentine gift that I would be giving to my fans, obviously I will be playing my hit songs such as ‘Tisaparadzane,’ ‘Nguva Yekudana,’ and ‘Love You Better’.

“In the past years I have toned down on live performances because I was doing my master’s degree and working for a marketing company but recently I have upped my game and want to perform at both national and international events,” she said.

“Tisaparadzane” has been voted among Zimbabwe’s all-time best love songs.
The National Arts Merit Awards nominee said fans would also be able to sample songs from her latest album “Brighter Day”. The video of the song “Love you Better” is a smash hit on Channel O.

“I feel humbled to be part of the nominees, I am excited because it has been long and fans will have the opportunity to sample my new album that has made me a nominee,” she said.

The “Queen of Soul” made her grand entrance on the music scene when she was still at university in 2002 when she released her debut album “Tisaparadzane”. This was followed by other albums that did well for her namely “Kamumhanzi”, “Sentiments” and “Full Circle”.

The singer is an accomplished songwriter who pens her own songs in line with prevailing social issues affecting women especially in relationships and even her own personal life experiences.

“My ability to pen love songs have seen me being given a slot to talk about women and relationships at ZiFM,” she said.

The highlight of her career was when she performed at the Joe Thomas show and also at Miss Malaika pageant in Harare.
