WORLD soccer motherbody Fifa have announced a date for player agents’ examinations amid controversy on the official number of Zimbabwean soccer agents. According to the Fifa official website, Zimbabwe has 14 agents but Zifa is disputing the figure. The first 2014 Fifa player agents’ examinations will be held on April 3 in Harare.

“As you are already aware in April 2014, the associations will be invited to hold the next session of written examinations in accordance with the current Fifa Players’ Agent Regulations. In this respect Article 8, Paragraph One of the regulations states that the examinations shall be held on identical dates determined by Fifa. In addition and in order to avoid potential irregularities, the examination will be scheduled for one day only,” said Fifa deputy secretary general Markus Kattner in his communiqué last Friday.

He said every association will therefore have to organise the next session of examinations on the aforementioned date.

Fifa will send 15 questions that relate to the international regulations to each of the associations in one of the four official languages, English, French, Spanish and German.

“Due to the fact that some associations will have the questions translated to their own national languages, we will therefore send the questions on March 27. Additionally, please be informed that each of the associations will be provided with the answers to the respective questions on April 4, 2014,” said Fifa in their circular.

Meanwhile, Zimbabwe Player Agents Association chairman, Omega Sibanda urged interested candidates especially from the Southern Region province to register and write the examinations.

“There is need to export our talent to lucrative markets especially in Europe and we can only do that if we register, write and pass these examinations,” said Sibanda.

A majority of players do not have national association recognised agents with some using borrowed licences.
