Players adapting to my philosophy: Sweswe

SHEASHAM may not have had the explosive start to the Central Region Division One League that many predicted, but head coach, Lizwe Sweswe is keeping his cool.

Although they sit in third place with 17 points, one point behind joint log leaders Dulibadzimu and Tongogara, their unbeaten streak of four wins and five draws has Sweswe confident and focused on integrating his philosophy into the team.

“I believe we had a slow start but it was a decent start. It’s not like you can just come from the Premier League and win all games. This is a tough league but we have done well. We have already played some of the tough teams in the league, which is good for us,” said Sweswe.

“When you are not winning many games, people want to criticise, but I stick to what I believe and how I think the team should play. The players are slowly adapting to my philosophy and how l want them to play, which is a great positive. The goal for us this season is to win as many games as we can and hopefully win the league.”

Sheasham is the home of several new players, as well as development structures and teams for players aged 13-17 to feed into the first team.

Some of the players who joined Sheasham at the start of the season include Rahman Kutsanzira, Nixon Gama, Efinos Kamunda, Lucky Vundla, Ray Lunga, David Madzungu, Khulekani Dube, Terry Dzovani, Kim Sibanda, Brian Rusinga, Mncedisi Nyoni, Blessing Munana and Bright Chipedza.

Sweswe also oversees the recruitment of players for the junior teams.

Sheasham were relegated from the top-flight league last year alongside Cranborne Bullets, Black Rhinos and Triangle United, while Chegutu Pirates, Tenax, Telone and Arenel Movers replaced them. — @innocentskizo
