Addressing delegates at a breakfast meeting at a local hotel in Bulawayo on Tuesday, Zimra regional manager Mrs Lonto Ndlovu said they were aware that their business partners were not always satisfied with the services offered at border posts sometimes.
She also said they were aware that delays at border posts had a negative impact on industry hence the need to open the border 24 hours.
“We wish to advise our valued business partners that plans are already under way to open the Plumtree border post 24 hours in the not so distant future.
“We would like to assure you that by doing so efforts are made to ensure that goods and the travelling public spend the minimum time possible at the border,” said Mrs Ndlovu.
Meanwhile, Zimra plans to open a new border post in Gwanda at Mlambapele/Mmamabaka to ease movement of people in that area, she said.
