Sport-loving residents from Plumtree town have come up with an initiative to engage themselves by finding other recreational sporting activities to keep occupied during weekends, adding other disciplines to the football-dominant town’s adult sports scene.

Joy has been noted at Dingumuzi Cocktail, where fans were cheerfully celebrating and enjoying a snooker tournament initiated by residents.

A snooker tournament was held between Mathendele team and the Dingumuzi team. Named after their respective townships, Dingumuzi won six games to Mathendele’s three, leaving the Dingumuzi team as champions for this Sunday.

Plumtree town, known previously for having only one recreational sport – football, mostly hosted at the main Dingumuzi Stadium – has seen residents come up with initiatives to accommodate other talents and interests among individuals. These efforts expand the ways of entertainment, raise recreational standards, improve skills, showcase talent, and bring fun to the quiet border town.

Tarirai Vazuva, a participant for Mathendele Snooker Club, shared his excitement and long-term plans regarding the initiative.

“This is our second match with the Dingumuzi snooker team. Last week we played at Mathendele Complex against them, and we won the match. This time they have beaten us. However, this is all for entertainment purposes between our communities. We have just started this recently, and we are ready to build professional teams with proper management,” said Vazuva.
