It’s a clash that will bring together the past, the present, and the future as Martin “The Big Boss” Sibanda goes head-to-head with Mxolisi “Mr Bones” Ndlovu at a popular joint in Bulawayo on Friday.

Though both artistes hail from Plumtree, the showdown is taking place in the City of Kings and Queens.

For The Big Boss, the night promises a wave of nostalgia as he takes fans down memory lane to his early days with Ndolwane Super Sounds, who burst onto the scene in 1996 with the album Africa. Timeless favourites such as Phenduka and Bakhuzani are staples in his setlist, and fans can also look forward to songs from his latest offering, Bhekubone, which has thrust him firmly back into the limelight.

“I’m in Bulawayo on Friday to play for my fans. I promise them uluju kuphela. I will remind them of the past and will play both the old and the new songs. I miss my fans in Bulawayo, and I hope they miss me too,” he said.

But standing opposite him is Mr Bones, an artiste young enough to be his son, who is currently the man of the moment. His fully booked festive season schedule is testimony to his rising demand. His song Bangihlabangaze ngeCase (Faka Two Phezu Kwebhodlela) from his 2024 album remains a strong Song of the Year contender at the Bulawayo Arts Awards and continues to dominate playlists.

With 11 albums under his belt, Mr Bones has matured remarkably, earning a reputation for high-energy performances. His fans are also enjoying his latest release, Giya Mkolekelwa.

Mr Bones, who could easily be the most booked artiste of this festive season, with shows lined up across Matabeleland South, Bulawayo, Midlands, and Matabeleland North said, “Whenever we are on stage, we give our best, and Friday will be no exception. It’s an honour to play alongside The Big Boss. I urge fans to come out in their numbers and enjoy a night of music,” Mr Bones said. – @themkhust
