ZESA has completed installation of 3, 500 prepaid metres in Plumtree Town with the exercise now being extended to the surrounding communities.A Zesa official in the town who preferred anonymity said all suburbs in the town were now using pre-paid metres.

“We have installed just above 3, 500 prepaid metres in residential houses, business and government premises in Plumtree Town.
“Almost all the suburbs have been covered and we are left with a few where our teams found houses locked during the installation process,” said the official.

The official said the power utility was working on collating statistics on houses that were left out with the view of redeploying their teams to ensure all consumers benefitted.

Plumtree town is made up of four low density suburbs, three medium density and eight high density suburbs. The official urged consumers to clear their debts saying some were reluctant to pay despite enjoying the service.

The official admitted complaints from residents who claimed they were being overcharged saying their bills were based on estimates.
