A 10-year-old pupil at Ndolwane Primary School in Plumtree, Bamphamandla Moyo, is preparing to launch his debut album on August 3.

Performing under the stage name “Muntu the Living Proof”, Bamphamandla has written and recorded a collection of hip-hop freestyle songs.

The album launch will take place at Ndolwane Secondary School.

According to the youngster’s mother, Maria Moyo, Bamphamandla’s music career began unexpectedly.

“Muntu is an amazing, God-fearing child. He’s very friendly to everyone and loves singing a lot. He started singing at the age of three, after being unable to speak until then. Since then, he has developed a passion for music and has written and recorded his own songs in English,” she said.

Proud of her son’s talent and dedicated to supporting his music career, Moyo urged people to come out in their numbers to support his album launch.

“I’m inviting everyone to come and witness Bamphamandla’s talent and enjoy the music, food, and drinks at the album launch. His wish is that, if he is financially supported, he wants to help orphans and ensure they receive an education.”

She said Muntu’s music is being recorded in South Africa.

“His elder brother is coaching and assisting him every step of the way. As of now, he has his music on CDs and USBs. However, he wants his songs to be sold through online platforms. After the launch, we will open social media accounts for him and his music will also be shared there,” she said.

There are plans for the up-and-coming rapper to tour Botswana.

Living up to his name, Bamphamandla, the up-and-coming artiste will be introduced to the big stage by renowned artistes Zinjaziyamluma and Ndux Junior as well as Acuz, Lover Guy, Bryan Awa and Mnyama Boys who are billed to perform at the launch.

Zinjaziyamluma said Muntu is progressing well, adding that his rise will pave the way for other up-and-coming talented young artistes.

“This artiste is incredibly talented. He sings beautifully and his songs are both pleasant and inspiring,” said Zinjaziyamluma.
