Plumtree-based fast-rising Afro Jazz sensation BS Brown has clinched a collaboration with award-winning songbird Selmor Mtukudzi as the duo recorded a remix of the song Ukuthand’ Umuntu.
Initially, the original song – Ukuthand’ Umuntu, was released as part of BS Brown’s first solo album titled Selimathunzi which was released last year on October 19.
On the latest remix, the artistes worked with Reward Judah Ndlovu as the production manager and keyboardist, Progress Sibanda and Ntando Sithole on backing vocals, Mthabisi Moyo on lead guitar, as well as drummer Erastus Nleya.
BS Brown said he is super excited to have worked with Mtukudzi – a respected voice in the local Jazz industry.
He said the song which fuses Ndebele and Shona lyrics is all about encouraging people to cherish their loved ones always and not disappoint by double crossing them with another person.

The muso also said it’s good for one to love their partner because love is a pillar of a healthy and everlasting relationship.
He hopes that the collaboration opens more doors for him.
“On coming up with this song I was inspired by love, how God created this thing (love) which connects together different people from different cultures and tribes to become one flesh, love each other without any jealousy and insecurities between them.
“As an upcoming artiste, I really appreciated the collaboration between me and Selmor Mtukudzi. This is a great milestone to me. I believe collaborating with popular artistes like her will take me to another level.
“Singing the song in both Shona and Ndebele languages will also make my song reach different heights and be cherished by different people from all corners of Zimbabwe,” said BS Brown.
BS Brown started music when he was in Grade Six.
He used to perform Imbube music during school assembly sessions, church gatherings, weddings and other public events while growing up.
The muso said he was inspired by his father to do music who was also a musician during that time singing Imbube. His father was a Jazz music lover, hence, that’s where he developed a taste of Jazz.
Later in life, BS Brown would work with uGodlwayo Omuhle Black Union – an Imbube performing group from Filabusi from 2009 to 2012.
He bounced back in the music industry and went solo in 2023 after experiencing a weird dream.
“I decided to return to music and go solo in 2023, which is when a dream came to me saying that l have to record my music, which I had written many years back.
“In the dream, a voice told me that my music is important as it is a way of educating, sending positive messages to the public. I then recorded this upcoming album as a way of documenting my talent for legacy,” said BS Brown.
