Poacher nabbed with python, leopard skins

A CHIPINGE man (35) was recently arrested for possessing leopard and python skins with a combined value of US$8 000.

 

Trymore Sigauke of Chisavanye Village under Chief Musikavanhu’s area was not asked to plead when he appeared before Chipinge magistrate, Mrs Elizabeth Hanzi on Tuesday for contravening Section 45(1) of the Parks and Wildlife Act.

He was remanded in custody to September 8.

Prosecuting, Mr Edmore Mahlanganise said on August 25, police received information that Sigauke was in possession of two python and leopard skins.

“Police detective teamed up and made a follow-up. They approached Sigauke at his homestead in Chisavanye Village and he admitted possessing the skins. He was arrested,” said Mr Mahlanganise.
