Poet plans to set up academy

The poet plans to set up a culture academy where he can help talented artistes sharpen up their skills.
Zulu who comes from Esigodini, attended Gwanda Government School and Skoveni Secondary.

In an interview, Zulu said remote areas have gifted people specialising in different areas but lacked support.

“Remote areas have talented people who lack exposure. If only a cultural academy was set up in such areas, our tradition and culture would be elevated to greater heights,” he said.

The poet has recited poems on Zimbabwe’s liberation struggle, life experiences, tradition and culture.

Zulu said poetry was an in-born thing to him and he intends to share his knowledge with youths provided he gets the platform to do so.
“Many people tend to take arts for granted because they don’t understand its richness.

The poet has shared some of his poetry with students from Stanmore High, Sheshane, St Christopher and Mt Cazalet schools.

Drawing inspiration from Albert Nyathi and South African Mzwakhe Mbuli, the poet said if talented artistes were given a platform to showcase their talent they could excel and go on to  earn international recognition.
The poet also teaches drama and has staged public shows at numerous events in Gwanda alongside popular poet Ngqindi.
