Socialite, Pokello Nare caused a stir on social media networks when she posted a controversial message apparently linked to her recent publicised engagement to Ghanaian boyfriend Elikem Kumordzie.
On Saturday night Elikem took a televised awards ceremony as an opportunity to publicly ask Pokello if she would marry him.

Pokello accepted the offer and they got engaged.

The self styled fashionista posted on her twitter the following message;

“Unobva washaya kuti vaya vanovenga vanovengerei. Wozonzwa zvichinzi mahure haaroorwi.

“Asi wozoona ring ichipfekedzwa wobva wazvishaya.” (You wonder why there are haters. Some people say prostitutes do not get married and when you see someone getting a ring, you wonder)

Pokello’s statement was soon followed by a barrage of comments from other twitter users who mainly criticised her for apparently publicly declaring her loose morals.

The comment frenzy was not restricted to Twitter as Facebook users also took the opportunity to air their views.

One comment read: “We cannot surely be behind Pokello for these publicity stunts”.

Another one read, “There goes the watery-mouthed Pokello”

Others, however, were not so sympathetic as they taunted the diva for publicly acknowledging being a person of loose morals or having been one at some point.

“Once a prostitute always a prostitute,” read another comment.

“A wild animal cannot be tamed,” said one disgruntled Facebook user.

There were, however, some social media fanatics who seemed happy of the developments and congratulated the two lovebirds for taking a step further in their relationship.

Pokello and Elikem got engaged on air while presenting the Best Collaboration of the Year at the 2014 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.

Before going to Big Brother reality show where she met Elikem, Pokello had hogged the limelight through a leaked sex-tape of herself and musician Desmond “Stunner” Chideme. She dumped Stunner publicly for Elikem.
