POLICE are appealing for members of the public to help identify bodies of three people, one of them suspected to be of a murder victim, that have remained unclaimed in Lupane and Tsholotsho.
Chief Superintendent Johannes Govo, the Officer Commanding Lupane District, said two of the bodies were found in Tsholotsho and the other one was found in Lupane.
Chief Supt Govo said there were no identity particulars found on the bodies of the three men.He said two of the bodies are at Tsholotsho District Hospital mortuary and the other one is at the United Bulawayo Hospitals (UBH) mortuary.
Chief Supt Govo said two of the bodies were found at Dikili grazing area and Lukukwe grazing area in Tsholotsho.
He said a villager Zwelihle Mzizi (30) of Dikili village under chief Gampu discovered the body while he was looking for donkeys in Dikili grazing area on November 1, while Andile Sibanda (40) of Madona line, under chief Magama, found the other body while looking for his cattle in Lukukwe grazing area on October 30.
Chief Supt Govo said the body found in Dikili is suspected to be of a man aged between 30 and 40 years while that found in Lukukwe is of a man believed to be between 60 and 70 years.
“One of the bodies was found at Dikili grazing area about 500 metres from Manzamnyama River on November 1.
“The body had a blue sleeveless jersey only and a cap, while a black pair of trousers was found about three metres away from the body. His right hand palm was missing. The deceased is estimated to be between the ages of 30-40 and was in a state of decomposition,” he said.
Chief Supt Govo said the third body was found on November 4 at the 160km peg along Bulawayo-Victoria Falls highway in St Luke’s and the man is suspected to have been murdered.
“A cyclist saw the half-naked body which was covered by tree shrubs a few metres off the main road. A heavy stench drew Jorum Ndlovu’s attention and he went closer to discover the body whose pair of trousers was open and lowered, exposing his privates. He was wearing a cream long sleeved shirt, grey trousers and a pair of cream farmer shoes,” he said.-@winnie_masara
