POLICE have arrested a Bulawayo man who is suspected to have killed a woman before setting her body on fire at a lodge in Kumalo suburb. Fortunate Sithole (27) was allegedly killed by her suspected boyfriend on Monday morning. She booked into the lodge on Sunday night saying her boyfriend would join her later. She was later heard screaming and the boyfriend escaped after allegedly killing her and setting her body on fire.

Bulawayo police spokesperson Inspector Precious Simango confirmed the arrest yesterday. “The suspect has been arrested but we cannot disclose his name before he is taken to court,” she said.

Meanwhile, police in Bulawayo are hunting for a murder suspect from Mabutweni suburb who allegedly killed his neighbour for claiming that his wife was a prostitute last month. Methuseli Ncube also known as Sdodo allegedly ripped open Spencer Mpofu’s stomach with a kitchen knife leaving his intestines protruding.

Mpofu was rushed to Mpilo Central Hospital where he died.

Ncube escaped and police say his whereabouts are unknown.Insp Simango yesterday said police had launched a manhunt for Sdodo. She appealed to members of the public who may have information that may lead to his arrest to come forward.

“Police in Bulawayo are appealing for information from members of the public that may assist in the location and detection of Methuseli Ncube alias Sdodo who is wanted in connection with a murder case which occurred at Nyalungwe Bottle Store in Mabutweni on November 15 this year,” said Insp Simango.
