Police arrest suspect in US$46 000 Kwekwe vehicle robbery

DETECTIVES from the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Homicide in Bulawayo have arrested a 40-year-old robbery suspect, Linas Tshuma, in connection with the theft of US$46 000 from a vehicle parked in Kwekwe’s Central Business District last week.

National police spokesperson, Commissioner Paul Nyathi, confirmed the arrest, stating that Tshuma was apprehended following a credible tip-off.

“Reference is made to the Zimbabwe Republic Police post on X platform regarding a case of theft of US$46,000.00 in Kwekwe Central Business District from a parked Mazda CX-5 vehicle. The Zimbabwe Republic Police confirms the arrest of Linas Tshuma (40) in connection with the case,” said Comm Nyathi.

Tshuma was tracked to his residence in Cowdray Park, Bulawayo, where detectives moved in and arrested him.

“The detectives made a follow-up and arrested the suspect at a house in Cowdray Park, Bulawayo. The arrest led to the recovery of a Samsung M13 cellphone suspected to have been bought using the stolen money, the suspect’s getaway car—a Toyota Mark X (registration number AFO 6880), registration plates AFA 1529—a driller, rivet gun, and various clothes which were captured on CCTV being worn by one of the suspects at the crime scene,” Comm Nyathi revealed.

Meanwhile, a manhunt is underway for Tshuma’s alleged accomplices, identified as Thethelani Ndlovu, Esau Mazarura, Bhekinkosi Tshuma, Mpiloenhle Ndlovu, Xolani Tshuma, Gugulethu Khumalo, and Reason Moyo, alias Tsorinso.

Police have urged members of the public with information on the whereabouts of the suspects to come forward as investigations continue.
