JOHANNES Masowe WeChishanu Apostolic sect leader in Bulawayo, Archbishop Prophet Emmanuel Mutumwa, has commended the Zimbabwe Republic Police for its continued commitment to serving communities, particularly in Bulawayo’s Cowdray Park and Luveve suburbs.

Speaking during the relaunch of the Police Client Service Charter on Monday, Archbishop Prophet Mutumwa said police officers had continued to demonstrate dedication in maintaining peace and order despite numerous challenges affecting communities.

The colourful event, held in Luveve suburb, was marked by various entertainment activities, including performances by dance groups and drum majorettes, drawing residents, community leaders and stakeholders from across the city.

Archbishop Prophet Mutumwa applauded police for strengthening relations with communities through initiatives aimed at improving service delivery and accountability.

“We commend the police for their unwavering service to residents and citizens at large. Their efforts in ensuring peace and safety in communities such as Cowdray Park and Luveve must be appreciated because they continue to stand with the people,” he said.

He also praised authorities for intensifying efforts to combat drug and substance abuse, which has become a growing concern in many communities, particularly among youths.

Archbishop Prophet Mutumwa said the fight against drug and substance abuse was beginning to take shape as Government departments, law enforcement agencies, churches and other stakeholders continue to work together in finding lasting solutions.

“We are seeing positive efforts being made in addressing the scourge of drugs and substance abuse. It is encouraging that authorities are now increasingly working towards practical ways to combat the problem and protect communities,” he said.

He said churches also had a critical role to play in shaping moral values and guiding young people away from destructive behaviours.

“As a sect, we have been holding awareness campaigns and partnering with various stakeholders to fight drug and substance abuse. We believe the church must work hand in hand with Government and the police in preserving the future of our youths,” said Archbishop Prophet Mutumwa.

The Police Client Service Charter relaunch is part of ongoing efforts by the Zimbabwe Republic Police to strengthen community engagement, improve public confidence and promote transparency in policing services.
