POLICE in Figtree have arrested Thamsanqa Ncube (35) and Dumiso Dube (25) for stock theft.

The arrests were made following a tip-off received from members of the public.

Acting Matabeleland South provincial police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Thandolwenkosi Moyo, said the two men were arrested due to the combined efforts of the public and police.

“As police, we would like to thank members of the public for working with us in the fight against stock theft.

“In this case, police in Figtree received a tip off that occupants of a Honda Fit were stripping a broken down vehicle near the Zareba area.

“Police intercepted the car near the Fortgroup area. Upon searching it, a whole carcass of a cow was found in the vehicle.

“The vehicle is being held at ZRP Figtree and if there is anyone missing a brown cow, they should check with Figtree police.

“We are happy with the way the public is responding to criminals and we want to encourage people to continue reporting if they feel the law has been broken,” she said.
