Police in Kwekwe have launched a manhunt for a trio in connection with an armed robbery case in which a man was robbed of USD$7 000 cash.
The incident occurred on Sunday in Fitchlea, Kwekwe after the yet-to-be-known men approached the unsuspecting complainant, Courage Mugari (29) who was in the company of his two friends.
Midlands Province Community Relations Liason Officer Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko confirmed the incident.
“They politely requested to talk to Mugari in private and went behind a fowl run. They indicated that they were selling gold ore.
“The men produced two pistols and threatened to shoot Courage Mugari. One of the three men used an electric shocker to shock the complainant and forced him to sit down.
“They searched his pockets and took US$7,000-00 and a cell phone from his pockets before running away,” said Inspector Mahoko.
Police are appealing for anyone with information which can help in arresting.
Meanwhile, two Gokwe women have been arrested after they were found in possession of dagga.
The two, Rosemary Siangumbula (47) and Queen Siijima (39, who are co-wives in a polygamous marriage to John Mudhenda (51) were arrested by police on patrol following a tip-off.
The incident happened on August 15 at Siyachangura Village, under Chief Simuchembo in Gokwe North.
“During the arrest, Rosemary’s hut was searched resulting in the recovery of 4 x 20 Litre buckets and a small plastic paper bag full of prepared dagga.
“Queen’s hut was also searched and a sack full of loose dried dagga was recovered.
The two suspects were taken to Gokwe Police Station for documentation of their case before appearing in court on 17 August 2024. The recovered dagga is being held as an exhibit. Its street value is yet to be ascertained.
The general public is informed that dealing with or possessing of dangerous drugs without a licence is a serious crime.
