Police have named 10 of the 18 people who perished in a horrific road accident near Mutoko Business Centre on Sunday evening.
Their next of kin have since been notified.
They are Anashe Rutsito (2), Malcom Rutsito (3), Simbarashe Mapuranga (age not given but is a male juvenile), all of Chingamuka Village in Mutoko; Grace Madzinga (30) of Kadoma, Audrey Mavhunga (30), Tawanda Chikuza (two), Makomborero Rutsito (13), Prosper Karimupfumbi (26), Takudzwa Charuva (26) and Paidamoyo Dzikamidzi, all of Mutoko.
National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said Kupakwashe Rutsito (11) was still recovering at Mutoko District Hospital.
He implored drivers to be observant and exhibit good driving conduct on the roads.
On Monday, Government said it would meet the funeral expenses for the 18.
Department of Civil Protection director Mr Nathan Nkomo said the Government will assist in the burial of the deceased.
Both families are from Mutoko and were travelling for holiday.
The accident occurred at the 130km peg along the Harare-Nyamapanda highway when a white Isuzu KB double cab truck belonging to the Rutsito family, and travelling towards Murehwa, collided head-on with a BMW in which the Chitimbe family gotten a lift.
The BMW was travelling towards Mutoko.
Fourteen people died on the spot, while the remainder succumbed to injuries and died at Mutoko Hospital.
