POLICE in Matabeleland South have launched a manhunt for a man who allegedly fatally stabbed a 25-year-old fellow patron during a beer drink at Shangani Business Centre on Wednesday.
The suspect, only identified as Tendai (Tindo), is said alleged to have stabbed his victim with a broken bottle after a dispute. The police did not release the name of his victim.
In a statement issued through micro blogging site, Twitter, the police said the victim died at a local hospital before being attended to.
“Police in Matabeleland South are appealing for information that may lead to the arrest of a man only known as Tendai (Tindo) who allegedly stabbed a 25-year-old man to death with a broken bottle at Shangani Business Centre, Fort Rixon. Tendai fled from the scene after committing the offence on 11 September 2019 at about 3AM. Information may be passed to the nearest police station,” read the tweet.
National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi yesterday said details on the full identity of the suspect were sketchy at the moment.
“We don’t have information on his full name. What we know is that he is called Tindo. We are trying to establish his specific residential address and we are still investigating the case to establish what could have led to the fatal attack,” he said.
Asst Comm Nyathi appealed to people who might have information that can lead to the arrest of the suspect to come forward. – @nqotshili
